The engraved slate plaques of the 3rd millennium, from the Centre and South of Portugal, are votive components of funerary depositions in passage graves, tholoi, natural and artificial caves or even in not structuralized burial sites. Sometimes, they present a disturbance in the composition, normally very regulated and normalized, of its main motifs. The author names this particularity, extremely rare, the "mad plaques syndrome" and looks for to explain the reason of this rupture of the symmetry concept.
